Reclaim Healthy, Vibrant, Youthful Movement with CLIMBING
As a Movement & Breathing Re-Education Specialist, I work with men and women to help them recover from illness or injury and maintain healthy mobility, at any age. My goal is to empower individuals to keep moving, stay strong, full of energy, and pain-free throughout their lives.
Here's a brief overview of the recent somatic movements we explored in our "Mindful Movement Monday":
Climbing: Rediscovering Vital Movements
The Principle:
"Every Side Bend includes a Twist, and every Twist includes a Side Bend. Your spine is designed to move, and our goal is to unlock the tension that often holds it back."
The 'Climbing' movement, once a natural part of our daily lives, has diminished over time. Many of us no longer engage in climbing or crawling, and those who do may develop stiffness and reduced movement if not done mindfully.
Daily habits, whether through regular training or repetitive actions, lead to the habituation of specific movement patterns. While initially beneficial, these patterns can limit our overall range of motion over time. As we age, these habits tighten, reshape, and restrict our movements, contributing to premature aging and increased vulnerability to illness and injury.
Breaking Free from Habituated Patterns
We often attribute these changes to "normal aging," but they are not inevitable. By releasing the habit of being tight, contracted, and in pain, we can maintain health, prevent unnecessary illness and injury, and age more gracefully.
Climbing & Crawling movements encompass both Side Bends and Twists throughout the spine, promoting independent movement of each vertebra. This fosters a more youthful, vital, and vibrant body (and mind) throughout our lives.
Embrace the Change
We kicked off the New Year with simulated "Climbing" movements. I invite you to try them and share your experiences. Whether you're at work or in a chair, this is your opportunity to move more, improve your health and mobility, and even get a bit of CARDIO in! Post your thoughts and let us know how these movements impact you over time.
Let's defy the notion of "normal aging" and embark on a journey to stay healthy, injury-free, and youthful for decades to come. Are you ready to embrace the change?
