Monday 2/12: "Eagle Arms & Blade"
Monday: 2/12/24
Lesson Plan:
EAGLE ARMS & BLADE:
Though some people can do Eagle Arms the 1st time out, is not easy for everyone, at least not in the beginning.
If you cannot do the whole pose in good alignment (as I direct in the video), then it is best for you to do it with the HUG modification, using a 'strap,' or just HUG with your own arms around your shoulders.
This modification is designed to allow access to an aligned spine & RELEASE the stuck spots that are keeping you from doing the rest of the angles of the pose SAFELY.
If you just try to push or force your way into the pose, you won't be doing the actual pose at all. You'll just be trying to do the 'picture perfect' IDEA of the pose, but not accessing the spine in a way that promotes and creates REAL CHANGE.
Over-stretching your shoulder joints, is not helpful, and is actually dangerous. Contortions simply reinforce your misaligned patterns of movement, or create new & different misalignments and new dangerous angles.
Either way, your not doing yourself any favors and actually creating more damage in the future. You may not notice the effects of the misalignments right now, but you will in 5 or 10 years. And maybe even sooner. If you weren't saving up for joint replacements, time off work, chronic pain and/or diminished mobility and strength, then don't keep forcing or contorting yourself to create the perfect picture of your idea of the pose.
Instead, do the modifications if necessary, and you'll change much more quickly, and easily. And not only will the angles be safe, you'll be comfortable, more flexible and stronger, AS NATURE DESIGNED, so that you can keep your joints and bones intact, and keep your youthful mobility & strength for the rest of your life!
You can only do what you can do. Your angle is YOUR Angle/Pose. Do the modifications as needed, and you'll look & move very differently very soon.
NEXT WEEK: We will review Eagle Arms & move into more stages of Blade (as you are able).
HOMEWORK: Eagle Arms & Blade a few times this week.
